Covid travel traffic light system could be scrapped

The government’s current traffic light system for international travel during the pandemic could be ditched.

It has been reported that the green and amber categories could be removed and replaced with a new system.

A new system would allow vaccinated travellers to visit countries with similarly high levels of vaccination as the UK without the need for quarantine on return, sources told the BBC.

The “red list” – countries deemed to be the highest risk and involve a 10-day stay at a government-approved hotel at a cost of thousands of pounds – is expected to remain in place.

The third government review of international travel is due by 1 10月.

Venue charity slams Scotland’s ‘unclear’ vaccine passport plan

A charity which represents music venues has criticised the Scottish Government’s plans for vaccine passports as “unclear” and “liable to provoke confusion”.

The Music Venue Trust (MVT) called on the Scottish Government to swiftly and actively engage with the sector so that public confidence in the policy is established.

The Scottish Government’s plans for vaccine passports were backed by MSPs on Thursday as the Greens provided the necessary votes, with the motion passing by 68 に投票する 55.

から 1 10月, the scheme will make a QR code or paper alternative available which will be scanned before entry is allowed.

This will apply to nightclubs or similar venues with more than 500 人, outdoor unseated events with more than 4,000 人, or any event with more than 10,000 in attendance.

The scheme is not yet finalised, with the detail on a number of issues – including the definition of a nightclub – still to be confirmed.

声明の中で, the MVT said: “The new Scottish government policy announcement on the requirement for double vaccination for entry to some premises is unclear, lacking in detail and liable to provoke confusion among both the public and venue operators.”

Scotland’s doctors leaving NHS because of Covid burnout

Doctors in Scotland are “exhausted” by the Covid pandemic and many are cutting working hours or leaving the health service altogether.

BMA Scotland chairman Dr Lewis Morrison told BBC Scotland that doctors were “washed out physically and mentally” after 18 months of the pandemic as the NHS is “being run at 110 per cent capacity”.

He said action was needed over the next few months to stop doctors leaving the profession and to boost recruitment of new medics.

The BMA says the pandemic and the “sheer out-and-out exhaustion” has deepened a “workforce crisis” that existed before the pandemic.

Care home workers should get jabbed, says care minister

Staff who refuse to get the Covid vaccine should not be able work in frontline roles in care homes, a government health minister has said.

Care minister Helen Whately suggested care home staff who would not get double jabbed could be moved to back-office roles.

She told Sky News: “The big question has to be well, if you don’t want to get vaccinated, how can you continue, how can it be right to continue, to look after people who are really vulnerable from Covid?」

The government is considering whether to make Covid jabs mandatory for frontline NHS and care workers – but some unions and care bodies have warned it could lead to staff shortages.
